Types of building ventilation

Important is, what you want to achieve.

While the classic window ventilation gives a choice between turn and tilt opening, the possibilities provided by ventilation units and systems are much more extensive. Our range starts from single units with passive ventilation and goes through to complex ventilation systems. Which one is most suitable to your needs depends on the tasks the ventilation system in your building should fulfil. Asking an expert for advice is your best move.

Active or passive?
In principal ventilators supply a building with fresh outside air and extract circulating air from a building. This is why often it is spoken about air supply and extraction fans. A so called passive fan works based on the natural difference in pressure principle between cool external air and used inside air and can function without a ventilator. Active fans however are equipped with a ventilator that triggers the required air volumes and ensures controlled ventilation even in hard weather conditions.

Home and building ventilation options
  • By cross ventilation passive fans are installed on each side of the building. The air movement occurs through wind and stimulation pressure and as a consequence depends on weather conditions.
  • By a de-central ventilation the air supply and extraction are controlled through a joint (active) ventilator. The air movement occurs almost independently from weather conditions.
  • An option that is applied to majority of family homes and apartment blocks is ventilation of the building through de-central units in conjunction with a central duct extraction system.
  • For more upscale equipment for homes it is recommended to control the supply and extraction of air through a home ventilation system – the ideal combination with heat recovery facility.
