Depending on how active we are, our body needs approximately 30m2 of fresh air per hour. Those who do sports - need more, those who sleep - need less. But two people in deep sleep in a 45m2 room with closed windows would have used the air within just few hours. There are many reasons why fresh air is important: while it helps us to concentrate and perform during the day, at night it makes sure that we get a deep and relaxing sleep.
Ventilation: short in winter, long in summer
The turning and core point for a good quality of air in a room is relevant ventilation. But often it is easier said then done: by window ventilation the air exchange rate depends on the outside temperature. During the cold winter months it should be around 4-6 minutes and the used air will be swiftly replaced with the fresh breeze. During the high summer months a wide open window often will fail to deliver the desired effect.
Fan units with ventilators work independently from these factors: they supply fresh air at all times.
