Year by year more than 600 people die in Germany due to fires, a further 6000 are severely injured. The property damage runs to billions. The hazard arising from fire is greatest at night: in many cases those affected only wake up when it is already too late. Not for nothing have several German states made smoke alarms obligatory for new buildings and conversions. It is only a matter of time before this obligation comes into force across Germany.
Protection against damage.
In the protection of human life however, along with early sensing of smoke, another factor also plays a decisive role: the securing of smoke free escape routes and rescue routes. Often these are obscured within a few minutes by hazardous smoke and combustion gases, preventing timely evacuation of the building.
The material damage which arises due to smoke and heat is also considerable. A good enough reason to think in good time about suitable measures for the effective protection of people and property.
